Our History

Formerly known as Unley Family Dental Centre, Dentistry on Unley is one of Adelaide’s longest-standing dental practices, proudly serving the community since 1919.

The practice was originally founded by Dr Horace Stain, who later passed it to his son, Dr Max Stain. The tradition continued with Dr Graham Day and Dr Robert Omsby, and is now carried forward by Dr Roger Antoniazzi and Dr Diana Tsiopelas.

In July 2011, the practice relocated to its current premises (previously the Tandoori Oven Indian Restaurant). Over the decades, we have provided high-quality dental care to generations of local families — offering both privately funded treatment and volunteer services for those most in need.
Our longevity — now spanning more than 100 years — is built on a foundation of exceptional service standards and strong, lasting relationships with our patients.

In 2025, following the retirement of Dr Roger Antoniazzi, Dentistry on Unley was sold to Ekera Dental, a private dental corporation. Ekera Dental aims to continue our “business as usual” model, maintaining the same personalised care, trusted team, and commitment to quality our patients have come to expect. Dr Diana Tsiopelas and Dr Melisa Wu will continue as the Senior Dentists, overseeing practice operations and staffing to ensure we uphold our philosophy: Quality Care for Every Individual.

Official Opening of Dentistry on Unley

Dentistry on Unley was officially opened on 2nd September 2011 by the Hon John Hill MP, Minister for Health.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

We are committed to becoming a more sustainable and environmentally friendly practice. Our dedicated Green Committee leads initiatives such as:

  • Digital radiography to reduce chemicals and wastewater
  • Paperless records and no patient cards
  • Online access to forms and brochures
  • Electronic claiming (DVA, Medicare, HICAPS)
  • Email newsletters, correspondence, and referrals
  • SMS appointment confirmations and reminders
  • Double-sided printing and use of scrap paper
  • 15kW solar panel system
  • Biodegradable cups and plastic barriers
  • Bike rack installation to encourage cycling
  • Recycling of sterilisation pouches
  • Partner with TerraCycle to recycle dental materials that would otherwise end up in landfill. Through this program, items that are traditionally difficult to recycle within dentistry can be responsibly processed and diverted from waste streams
